Which is how I ended up hitting return after typing in the title and the thing published with nothing here but the snapshot.
C.I. called this morning to read something she was including in the morning entry:
Elaine noted Barack's similarities to Jimmy Carter back in 2007, long before anyone else she was pointing it out. She owns that comparison. I'm not sure I agree with that comparison fully. I actually see him as similar to another president but I'll save that ammo for 2012 when Team Obama will have to struggle to recalibrate the machine. Still a lot of people repeat Elaine's comparison. Take Ted's report and factor in the Jimmy comparison.
She wanted to know if I got that? I did. Then she wanted to know if I thought it would cause any problem? I didn't see why.
Well she was right and I was wrong.
At lunch Sunny told me I had 15 e-mails asking why C.I. and I were mad at each other?
I did come up with the Jimmy Carter comparison and made it online in early 2007 before anyone did. Part of the thing today is because C.I. is really ticked that I don't get credit for that.
That's something she's brought up many times. How everyone wants to act as if the thought just crossed their mind.
So that was part of it.
The second part is that C.I. knows who Barack is like -- president wise. (Your only clue right now? TS.) She brought that up and I didn't get it the first time. I still saw Jimmy. There is a lot of Carter in Barack.
But one night after we'd spoken, I had a dream of ___ and Barack side by side and did catch the resemblance. I actually think her comparison is more apt than mine.
But that's all the post was about.
It was really more about getting me credit -- C.I. trying to get me credit -- for being the first to make the Carter comparison.
We have no problems. We aren't fighting. We aren't even disagreeing.
If we were disagreeing, it wouldn't be a problem. We have disagreed before in our long friendship. But for those who worried, there was nothing to worry about. Honest.
