According to one Jordanian military officer who asked to remain anonymous, hundreds of soldiers who speak languages other than Arabic were seen during the past two days in those areas moving back and forth in military vehicles between the King Hussein Air Base of al-Mafraq (10 km from the Syrian border), and the vicinity of Jordanian villages adjacent to the Syrian border, such as village Albaej (5 km from the border), the area around the dam of Sarhan, the villages of Zubaydiah and al-Nahdah adjacent to the Syrian border.
Another report received from our source in Amman identified an additional US-NATO Command Center in “al-Houshah,’ a village near Mafraq.
Our Iraqi journalist source in London provided us with the following related information:
“Some of the US forces that left the Ain al-Assad Air base in Iraq last Thursday, did not come back to the USA or its base in Germany, but were transferred to Jordan during the evening hours.”
Good for Sibel Edmonds getting a scoop like that. Reader Richard e-mailed to note it and note that the media is ignoring it. Edmonds has updates in her piece noting some of that as well.
Among the reasons to check in on Sibel's site? Like C.I., she's a woman tackling serious issues. I'm not finger pointing at the average female blogger, but a lot of the stuff that my gender puts out there is just nonsense. It's worse than disinformation, it's crap.
Like the efforts to inflate something into a feminist victory when it wasn't even a victory, let alone feminist.
If I hurt someone's feelings there, take joy in the fact that I know my site's not worth anything. But I always have the excuse that I want to stop blogging. (When I had time and drive here, I did some good posts on peace. Good, not great. Nothing anyone needs to search for or print up.)
A lot of the online women are schills for the Democratic Party or think the height of 'commentary' is Gail Collins. They have no idea how to tackle a serious topic and instead yammer away about polls and debates.
That's true of many men online. But there are also some men that really do nothing but work on big issues and I think we're lucky to have Edmonds and C.I. to point to and say, "Hold on a minute, here's two women who proved women can more than carry the load and write about something other than a candidate's hair and what mean thing someone said about Barack."
"TV: The Nutty Airhead" (Ava and C.I., The Third Estate Sunday Review):
It's certainly true that Naomi's no longer writing columns and books attacking the PATRIOT Act (which was renewed under Barack) or Guantanamo (which remains open under Barack) or military trials or any of the points made on title cards at the end of the film, shortly after she's calling on the American people to "rise up."
"There's a point and I know it,"she rambles on in the film. "If I open The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal and I read that someone I identify with a journalist, a commentator, has been named an enemy combatant and is in a 10 x 12 foot cell in a Navy brig, it's at that point that I'm going to stop talking."
She gives all these lectures about patriotism but then wants you to know that if someone she identifies with gets named an enemy combatant, that's when she shuts her mouth. What message does that send?
If tomorrow Michael Ratner's named an enemy combatant, our voices don't fall silent. We get even louder. And we do that because Michael Ratner's safety and the safety of all Americans is at stake. How dare this woman preach silence in the face of a political crackdown?
What she is, at best, is a fair weather patroit who will do the right thing as long as it doesn't cause any trouble for her. At worst, she's part of the fear industry -- a full fledged partner in it as much as George W. Bush -- and she worked overtime to frighten people in order to turn out the vote for the Democratic Party.
Whatever her motives were, she's now a full fledged joke and our only regret as the film ended was that this wasn't a sitcom, The Nutty Airhead?, that we could tune into each week and laugh at the latest scatter-brained mess she'd gotten herself into. No, this is real life and her 'antics' have messed up a lot more than just her own life these days.
Ava and C.I. have truly captured Naomi Wolf and then some. Wolf really did pretend to care about the PATRIOT Act. But after Barack renews it, she has nothing to say. None of the calling out of him that she offered War Criminal Bush.
Barack's a War Criminal. Naomi Wolf's just the braless ninny jumping up and down for him.
