So this was a really tight episode that only grabbed breathing room when Eileen went to Bush Whacked (a dive) twice throughout the episode.
Tom walked out on his date (who was introducing Tom to his friends) to go hand-hold cry baby Ivy. She's losing her voice and unable to hit notes. The doctor gives her medicine. She doesn't want to take it. She should have told her or him that and gotten another prescription.
Instead, it's high drama. Dennis is also there and that's even worse.
Tom has a sexy boyfriend who loves him and puts up with his crap (this date, Tom leaves; the previous one has Tom dragging the boyfriend to jail to bail out Julia's teenage son, etc.) and yet he was flirting with Dennis.
He was nice to Dennis?
No. He was rude and that's how Tom flirts.
I really will have no stomach for Tom and Dennis. It would be different if the two had gotten together earlier but now that there's a boyfriend who really is perfect, Dennis needs to find someone else. Add in that Tom repeatedly insists Dennis is straight (he's not) so that would imply that Tom was one of those self-loathing types who can only fall for men who appear straight -- or, as I believe they word it in the classifieds "St8t acting seeks same."
Most of the episode was tease. Would Julia sleep with Michael? Even after her husband returned from his business trip?
Karen almost got to take over rehearsal but I think that's coming. Ivy's voice is not holding up. Karen also sang at a private function and a recording exec was impressed.
Eileen needs money but is managing. She is lining up backers for the play and even found a nice place to live. She'd probably do better to lean on Ellis less (and trust him not at all) but he's attached himself to her hip despite the fact that he's supposed to be Tom's assistant.
